In this article, I will explain 7 points to consider when purchasing enterprise products and 3 mistakes that you must stay away from.

Let’s start with 7 points.

1. Requirements and options:

Always keep the mandatory features in mind and do not consider optional features as mandatory.

2. Team interviews:

Ensure that everyone in the team is convinced. No one should be offended from the team after the purchase and should not say that “I told before” about the negativities.

3. Vendor interviews:

Try to get as much information as possible from the vendors, but do not forget about the scope in the meantime.

4. Make POC or demo:

One of the biggest mistakes that can be made is to buy the product without trying, especially if it is an unfamiliar product, make a demo or POC with the team.

5. Compliance with company policies and other environments:

The second biggest mistake that can be made is that the compatibility of the product with the indoor environment is not controlled and therefore incur additional costs.

6. Making the scorecard:
Showing the essential and important features and providing an understanding of the big picture is very usefull.

7. Start a procurement tender with all vendors that meet the requirements.

Stay away from these 3 mistakes.
1. To be a fanatic:
Many of the wrong decisions are made because of keeping a brand like a football fanatic.

2. Emphasis on optional features, not necessities:
Focus on optional features, may lead to forget mandatories and not to meet certain needs.

3. Looking at the cost of the product, not the total cost of ownership.
